The key to effective SEO-optimization is using the right keywords to get the attention of the search engines and your target market. That means research, research, research. Keyword research, though, can be like going down a rabbit hole, can’t it? Don’t let it overwhelm you. These quick, easy tips can help you make the most of your research and push you closer to page one of the biggest search engine in the world.
- The Good Old Google Search Bar – start typing what you think your target market is searching for into your browser’s search bar. It will auto-populate – those are the terms you should be using to reach your targeted audience.
- Localized Keyword Research – if you have a brick and mortar business, localized keywords are a must have. For example, instead of using mechanic as a keyword, you use Phoenix mechanic. Using localized keywords gets you much closer to the top of the list.
- The FAQ Keyword Goldmine – your own (and your competitor’s) FAQ section tells you what your ideal consumers want to know. Use those questions and answers to find keywords.
- Your Blog’s Comment Section – when your blog readers give you feedback in the comments section, there are usually a few good keyword ideas in there. Cull them out and put them to good use in your copy. I do this for my clients, and it works like a charm.
Once you find the right keywords, don’t forget to use them in the right places. That means your website and social media channels. By the way, don’t make the mistake of overlooking YouTube. They’re owned by Google, are the number two search engine in the world, and get upwards of 30 million daily views. 30 million. Please go get your share of that number.
